If you want to synchronize such files to your Egnyte account, we recommend you copy as cold copies of the database files to the sync folder on a periodic basis, and avoid synchronizing active databases. The reason for this is that Egnyte is not able to sync changes to these file types while they remain open. While you can store these application file types in Egnyte, you cannot host them within Egnyte's cloud or sync applications. There are certain specialized application file types like those used in databases (Oracle databases, Mysql, SQL server, Access DB), Exchange servers, and virtual machines (e.g., VMWare) which are left open for extended periods of time while changes are made. We require dual core or quad core processors to run the Desktop Sync application machines with a single core processor may see high CPU consumption with a subsequent loss in performance. In addition, you can sync files up to your plan limit. You may select up to 500 folders to synchronize for offline access. If you anticipate needing to sync more than 500,000 files, you might be better-served by Storage Sync. Desktop Sync is designed to synchronize up to 500,000 files per desktop. Files in sub-folders DO NOT count against this total, so you can also have up to 20,000 files in each sub-folder. You can sync up to 20,000 files in any folder.
